Celebrating milestones often calls for something extraordinary, and Lamborghini just set the bar incredibly high. The Italian luxury carmaker pulled back the curtain on its revolutionary Revuelto, the first High-Performance Electrified Vehicle (HPEV) in its V12 lineage, at Salon Privé, held at the stunning Blenheim Palace. The event was part of a year of Lamborghini’s 60th-anniversary celebrations, and it made for quite the spectacle.
This high-voltage revelation came alongside the display of the V10 Huracán Sterrato, another state-of-the-art vehicle designed to go "beyond the asphalt," in a way that no other supercar like it can. Lamborghini also rolled out classic gems like a 1974 Urraco P250 S, a 1987 Countach 5000 QV, a rare 1969 Islero S, a 1970 Miura P400 S, and a 1992 Diablo.
And if that wasn't enough to electrify the luxury car scene, Supercar Saturday amped things up even further. The south lawn of the palace hosted over 60 V12 Lamborghini models, driven there by an exclusive club of clients and members. The lineup spanned six decades, from the iconic 400 GT to the contemporary Aventador SVJ and Ultimae. The day ended with accolades being presented to a rare, red 1967 Lamborghini 400 GT 2+2 and a black Murciélago SV, honoring the enduring impact of these magnificent machines.
Now, let's shift gears and dig a little deeper into what makes the Lamborghini Revuelto so groundbreaking. First unveiled in March, the Revuelto is Lamborghini's answer to the future, balancing a rich V12 legacy with electrification. It’s the first in the series to boast a hybrid model, transforming super sports car performance through an amalgam of cutting-edge design, powertrain engineering, and aerodynamics. Sporting a staggering 1,001 horsepower, the Revuelto pairs an all-new twelve-cylinder combustion engine with three electric motors, all backed by a lithium-ion battery pack. And to really put the pedal to the metal, it comes with a new double-clutch gearbox.
Interestingly, demand for this electrified beast is already surging, with orders booked for more than two years. It seems that fans and connoisseurs alike are keen to embrace Lamborghini’s electrified future, proving that the brand’s foray into hybrid technology aligns seamlessly with consumer expectations.
Beyond the Revuelto, Lamborghini's financials are also hitting high notes. Their record-breaking success continues with global deliveries of 5,341 units in the first half of 2023, a 5% uptick compared to last year. A lion’s share of this growth can be attributed to the enduring success of the Urus and Huracán families. The UK stands as the brand’s second-strongest market, trailing only behind the USA, with 514 cars delivered in the first half of this year.
Lamborghini's unveiling of the Revuelto at Salon Privé wasn’t just a momentary spectacle; it was a decisive stride into the future of luxury automotive innovation, setting the stage for another six decades of awe-inspiring, jaw-dropping performance.
